High above the Achensee with the hang Glider

Hang gliders are also drawn to Lake Achensee because of the great wind conditions. They ascend with their hang glider using the Rofan cable car and then enjoy the flight from the designated launch site.

Launch Sites

There is one launch site on the Rofan:

Launch Site Erfurter Hut

  • take-off towards south
  • take-off and landing fees are paid at the bottom station ticket office
  • the Rofan cable car takes hang gliders to the top station
  • hang gliders take off right next to the Erfurter hut (ramp)

Landing Site

The landing site for hang gliders is located in the field behind the roundabout (Lärchenwiese). This is the large meadow near Café Klingler in the centre of the village (windsock!).

Attention
The landing site at Hotel Buchau directly at Lake Achensee is private and is used exclusively by test pilots and flight schools.
